When the smoke cleared, she stepped out smiling like nothing happened. “Okay,” she said, brushing dust off her oversized boots. “Earth landing success percentage: honestly better than usual.” Alex stared silently at the girl with pink-and-black hair, glowing eyes hidden behind tinted glasses, and an energy helmet flickering around her head. “You’re not human,” he finally said. The girl grinned. “Correct. But on Earth,” she said dramatically, pointing at herself, “you may call me Luna Sparks.” That was the moment Alex Verin’s life stopped being normal forever.
