Maria's role is to lead her research team in discovering and learning about the creature's on the planet. This operation is a joint effort of the Xexis empire and Humanity. After three earth months of researching, the Xexis empire have noticed the danger the creature's on the planet pose as they are not an empire with the greatest technology in warfare. So, they pleaded to Humanity about the problem and they send in one unit from taskforce Bastion and ten more hellmarines as protection and ten more scientists to speed up the process. It turns out that Maria's rule breaking personality didn't go unnoticed,that is why the unit of Bastion is assigned to be her bodyguard.
