More Iwakura — Lain Iwakura is, on the surface, simply a 14-year-old girl who lives in the suburbs of Shibuya, Tokyo with a deeply distant family. His mother is apathetic and cold, his older sister, Mika, is immersed in her own world of detachment and his father is almost religiously obsessed with computers and the Wired (the global Internet network). Lain's life changes drastically when one of her classmates, Chisa Yomoda, commits suicide. A few days after her death, several classmates began to receive messages via email signed by Chisa herself. When Lain, intrigued but not afraid, decides to turn on her obsolete old computer terminal (A child's NAVI), she receives a message from Chisa that says "Just leave my body. That's why everyone misunderstood it. God is here." Lain is not human, but is a Software designed by the now dead Masami Eiri to break the barrier between the real world and the network (Although deep down she desires human warmth)
